Krkonoše Mountain trail

Marked route, red color, 136 km

Krkonošská stezka

Krkonoše Mountains trail connects to the multi-regional bridleway which begins in Vienna, Austria and run through southern Bohemia to the Pardubice region. From Staré Ždánice it transects the countryside to the north through Roudnice, Nechanice, Sadov to Cerekvice nad Bystřicí. It continues around Hořice through Miletín to Úhlejov /1/. In this section we recommend a short stop at the hotel pod Zvičinou, where soon the area will be extended by a riding circuit. Whereas children take the sport-relax trail, you can take pleasure in the captivating view of Krkonoše and also try the curative water from local spring. Near Raisova bouda it joins with the green trail from Český ráj (Bohemian Paradise). In Bílá Třemešná it is possible to visit the home of J. A. Comenius. The route continues along the road to the fairytale dam Les Království and then along the nature trail through Nemojov to Nové Domy /2/. Pass by Chotěvice, Karlov and Čermná, then you will be led to Bolkov /3/. From where it is only a short distance to Hoffmannova bouda (cabin). Here you turn left to Zrcadlovky, then along the forest trail to Kolínská bouda (cabin). At the crossroad at „U Thámových bud“ it is possible to turn off to Vlašské boudy (cabins) on the Sosna farm. The trail then continues along Javoří valley brook to Javoří mill. Nearby the mill the bridleway again joins to the blue footpath through Velká Úpa to Výsluní and then to Krakonošovo údolí (Krakonoš valley) to Spálený mlýn (Spálený mill). The trail turns right to Dlouhý hřeben, straight through Cestník. And finally along the so-called old road you will reach Horní Albeřice and the Polish border, where Krkonoše mountains trail ends. In the future it will be linked with trails through Poland until the Baltic Sea.

Beyond the mountain view point

Za horskými vyhlídkami

Partially marked route, blue/green color, 12 km

From the Krkonoše Mountains trail it is possible, in Janské Lázně near Hoffmannova bouda, to turn on to the marked bridleway. Go around Modrokamenná bouda (cabin) to Horní Maršov. Here it is possible to turn off for a while to Dolní Maršov /4/ and then continue through Antonínovo údolí (Antonín´s valley) on the so-called Bednářova cesta (Bednář trail) to Žacléř /5/. This section of the trail is under preparation and in the future it should be marked in green. From Horní Maršov continue through Suchý důl (Suchý valley). You will be rewarded with captivating views of the highest peak of the Krkonoše Mountains - Sněžka. Here you will also be able to relax and refresh yourself. Near the Polish borders you will join up one again with the red Krkonoše Mountains trail.

Krkonoše Mountains offers many other beautiful locations. Janské Lázně is a center of spas, culture, and sport and it is well worth visiting at any time of year. The short visits to the former gold mines around Bártova forest are also interesting. Because we are located in Krkonoše National Park we recommend referring to the riding stations and exercised guides would be more than happy to take you on specific routes.

Along the same red trail with Křížová cesta (Stations of the Cross) you will reach the baroque complex of Kuks. The complex established by F. A. Špork is worth a visit.
