Obří Důl (Giant’s Valley) from Pec pod Sněžkou to Sněžka and past Luční cabin and Kozí hřbety to Špindlerův Mlýn

Hiking: Pec pod Sněžkou, Slezská bouda, Sněžka, Luční bouda, Špindlerův Mlýn

Obřím dolem z Pece pod Sněžkou

Starting point: Pec pod Sněžkou (blue tourist sign post)

Route: the route can only be completed on foot. It is difficult but it offers many places for rest. Obří Důl will lead you to Slezská bouda (Slezská cabin), then to Sněžka and finally Luční bouda (Luční cabin). From where you will follow the Stará Bucharova Way (signposted in red) through Kozí hřbety to Špindlerův Mlýn.

The route is 18 km long and involves arduous ascending and descending. The reward however is a variety of beautiful views and acquaintance with the Krkonoše countryside. Obří Důl carries on from Pec pod Sněžkou which is often dangerous due to avalanches in winter. It continues to Sněžka, through the moorland lakes to Luční bouda (Luční cabin) and finally to Kozí hřbety. This route mainly runs along stony paths or small rocks and large flat stones forming “steps”.

Points of tourist interest along the route: Muzeum KRNAP (Museum of Krkonoše National Park - ecological exhibition), Exhibition of mud slides in the chapel, Forge shop – tours of the gallery (tickets must be purchased from the Krkonoše National Park (KRNAP) information center in Pec pod Sněžkou), Úpské rašeliniště (Úpské moorlands)
