In Hradec Králové Region, there are many different preserved castles and ruins that tell the history of the Middle Ages. Castles performed several functions among which the most important one was the function of living.

Chateaus

The main functions of the chateaus were the living, the economical and the political ones. For these reasons it could not defend them from serious military invasions. Their primary role was the representation and comfort.
